Cindy McCain, widow to the late Senator, openly apologized for her earlier comments after social media erupted when she assumed a toddler was being used in human trafficking as the woman walking with the child was of ‘different ethnicity’
When Cindy McCain admitted to a Phoenix radio station asking police to conduct a welfare check, social media trolls slammed her for it.
Ms McCain said : ‘I came in from a trip I’d been on and I spotted – it looked odd – it was a woman of a different ethnicity than the child, this little toddler she had, and something didn’t click with me.’
‘I tell people “Trust your gut.”
‘I went over to the police and told them what I saw and they went over and questioned her and, by God, she was trafficking that kid. She was waiting for the guy who bought the child to get off the airplane.’
The police later confirmed Ms McCain’s demand but said that the mother and child did nothing wrong. Ms McCain has since apologized.
Twitter users were quick to comment though, with someone saying : ‘Which airports do you prefer? You know, just so my multi-ethnic family knows which ones to avoid.
