Police in Denmark sued 14 people – including 6 minors – for sharing a video of the beheading of a couple of tourist girls from Scandinavia. The event took place in Morocco at the end of last year.

The Danish Louisa Vesterager Jespersen (24) and the Norwegian Maren Ueland (28) were on holiday when they were found dead on 17 December in a mountain area south of Marrakesh. They turned out to have been beheaded by ‘lone wolves’ who had sworn allegiance to terrorist group IS.

The news shocked the whole world. The young women were on a trip in the Atlas Mountains when they were attacked by a group of men. Louisa and Maren were first stabbed with knives. Then one of them was cut and the other was beheaded. One of the attackers made a disguising video of Louisa’s murder and posted it on social media. There the images were immediately shared thousands of times. They were even posted on Ms Vesterager’s mother’s Facebook account.

14 Danes who shared the video will now be charged. The Østjylland police announced this on social media yesterday.

“We have examined 118 files from all over the country.”

“Every time it was about sharing a video that showed the murder of a woman in December last year, via Facebook Messenger or other social media. As a result, 14 people from 9 different police zones have been charged. ”

12 of them are charged because they simply shared the offensive images. There is up to 3 years in prison. 2 others, according to the police, are guilty of glorifying the content of the video.

There is a prison sentence of up to 2 years or a fine for that offense.
